It’s not a Fund Raiser, It’s a FUN Raiser!

Why Wig Out?

Good question!  We get asked all the time:

“Is the Wig Out a benefit?”

“What cause are you raising money for?”

“Why are you doing this?”

There are numerous opportunities throughout the year to donate time and money to the deserving nonprofit or “cause” of your choice.

We encourage you to donate as much as you are willing and able…however, the Wig Out is NOT a fundraiser, not a benefit in the formal sense of the word, it’s just for FUN.  Its not productive and no money is involved.  The Wig Out is a fun-raiser, for all of us, for our community’s collective mental health and for the pure joy of it!

We want to wear wigs, and we really want to see you in a wig. Do you laugh at yourself heartily and often?

The ability to be silly and to allow oneself to act and look silly (or just really different) is powerful and healing- it helps us put our own self-importance in perspective.

Heed the words of the wise folk quoted below…

If people did not sometimes do silly things, nothing intelligent would ever get done.
- Ludwig Wittgenstein

You grow up the day you have your first real laugh, at yourself.
- Ethel Barrymore

Laugh at yourself first, before anyone else can.
- Elsa Maxwell

Laugh at your friends, and if your friends are sore;
So much the better, you may laugh the more.

- Alexander Pope

The most completely lost of all days is that on which one has not laughed.
- Sebastien-Roch-Nicolas de Chamfort

Laughter is a most healthful exertion; it is one of the greatest helps to digestion with which I am acquainted.
- Christoph Welhelm Hufeland

Morally considered, laughter is next to the Ten Commandments.
- Henry Wheeler Shaw

People who do not know how to laugh (especially at themselves, we might add), are always pompous and self-conceited.
- William Makepeace Thackeray
